I feel that a statue would raise awareness that women have been producing art for centuries and that all women's art needs a higher profile, at every level, but especially Scottish women artists in Scotland. I was talking to an undergarduate fine art student recently who had never heard of Judy Chicago and her wonderful table cloth, she is personally struggling with a male tutor who is questioning the validity of her work! I would love to be involved with this, thanks.

The funding for a public artwork is great news. It would be great if it was of WOMAM rather than a specific woman and certainly MODERN WOMAN. I would be very interested to be involved in this project.

I am thrilled that people feel so strongly about this and I would encourage everyone who has a view to get involved! The project will be underway soon so please keep an eye out on the website for information on the artist selection process and also how you can feed in your ideas and be active in the process.
Thanks for all the input so far...

What an opportunity to have a statue of a woman in this space.I think Councillor Liz Cameron would push for additional funding . There must be many Glasgow women from past struggles who deserve to be remembered and we have too many statues of male achievers within the city
