GWL Services
Individuals, groups, organisations and Library users can access training, research and consultancy services at the Library. Please contact the Library for more information.
Research
The Library has a huge, diverse collection of materials. It has been used as a research resource by women undertaking projects locally, nationally and internationally. Visitors can access information across a range of formats and on a wide spectrum of topics related to women and gender.
Consultancy
As the sole Women’s Library in Scotland with a significant collection, a large membership and experienced staff, the Library regularly consults with media, academic, statutory and other colleagues involved in research. We can convene focus groups, deliver reports, undertake research projects and engage in other forms of consultation on gender and related equalities issues.
Training
Our volunteer training programme is currently being revamped but we do offer training opportunities for women from camera and video skills, mandarin, bookmaking, creative writing to gardening through our Lifelong Learning programme.
We also deliver outreach training, currently Adult Literacy and Numeracy Awareness Raising, ‘Girl Power’ training for groups of young women and Homophobia Awareness Raising. Please contact the Library for more information.
We also welcome training exchanges and shared training opportunities with organisations.
Literacy and Numeracy
Our ALN project offers awareness-raising training about literacy.
