‘Nurture /Shelter’ is from a series of 15 entitled ‘Mourning Spoons’. It is a hand made paper cast from recycled cotton denim. Stephanie has said ‘the work is inspired from a theme of feminine identity, eluding to the intimate experiences of life from nurturing the body to death’.

‘Woman With Birds’ (1947), is a fine representation of Hannah Frank’s work. The pen and ink drawing was exhibited at the Royal Glasgow Institute in 1947 and has been donated to the Auction of Pleasures by Fiona Frank.

Jean Thomson is President of the Glasgow Society of Women Artists. She was born in Edinburgh, trained at Stourbridge School of Art and qualified as a teacher at Ambleside. Since the 1980′s she has exhibited regularly, including a successful two-woman show with her daughter. Jean has kindly donated this beautiful oil, ‘The Cuillins from Sligachan’ [...]
