Lesbian Groups

-

Groups meet regularly at the Library to support women of all ages who are lesbian, bisexual or questioning their sexuality. In this safe space women gain confidence, make friends and have fun.

The LAIC Timeline

This timeline highlights some of the more hidden facets of mainly British lesbian history through magazines, journals, newspaper clippings, badges and ephemera that are all held in the Lesbian Archive and Information Centre. The LAIC Timeline was put together by a small team of volunteers at the LAIC who got stuck into some of the less explored corners of the Archive in order to bring you these gems.

History on Wheels!

The Lesbian History Group has put together a reminiscence box. We've looked at objects in the Lesbian Archive with social significance (like banners, badges, mugs, posters), researched their histories and created a veritable treasure trove of three dimensional delights!

Community & youth groups can borrow the LAIC's Reminiscence Box for a refundable deposit of £20. Inside is a collection of original and duplicate material from the Lesbian Archive and a guide to provide background to the objects and discussion points.

Lesbians in Peer Support (LiPS) - group for ages 25 and under

The LiPS group has come to an end! We will be looking at further lesbian service provision when we move to the Mitchell Library, so if you have any suggestions for what you'd like to see, please let us know.

LiPS was a project that supported young lesbian and bisexual women who live in Glasgow or around the west of Scotland.

The LiPS project was launched in June 2000, and since then has offered support to over 200 young women through the youth group, workshops and one-to-one support and information.

The group organised regular meetings, workshops and events, as well as days and nights out. Meetings offered women a chance to chill out and relax with other young women in a safe, confidential and supportive environment.

Groups for women aged 25 and over

There are meetings for women aged 25 and over every Wednesday from 7-9pm at the LGBT Centre at 84 Bell Street in Glasgow. See Glasgow LGBT Centre for more information about meetings and events.
