Revealing the hidden history of British lesbian women.
One of the first magazines for lesbians appeared in the United States in the 1950's. Called 'The Ladder', it billed itself as a lesbian review. It ran from 1956-1972, founded by Phyllis Lyon and Del Martin, co-founders of the organisation 'The Daughters of Bilitis'. The magazine's distribution list and production facilities were seized by radical feminists and in 1972, it ceased publishing.
