Women Make History

Glasgow Women’s Library has a great collection of information about women in history but we are also champions of individual stories, the histories being lived today by women and how our own lives and the histories of others can be exciting landscapes to explore.

Around the Suffrage Oak

Women Make History is a women’s history group at Glasgow Women’s Library that aims to gather and share information on pioneering women in Glasgow. We launched the West End Women’s Heritage Walk in June 2007 during the West End Festival.

There are lots of ways to get involved. For more information about how you can get involved in developing the walking tours, fundraising, or joining the research and development groups, please contact the Library.

The West End Women's Heritage Walk map cover

Following the success of our Women’s Heritage Walks, and by popular demand, this map is designed to encourage anyone interested in exploring the hidden histories of the women of the West End of Glasgow. Discover the histories of pipe-smoking forewomen, revolting housewives, guerilla suffragettes and the other unsung women who have helped to create Glasgow’s West End.

To order a copy (or copies) of the map, please contact the Library.
