Women and the Vote
"2008 marks 90 years since the Representation of the People Act finally gave some women the right to vote. It is also 80 years since women won the right to vote on equal terms with men, and the start of democratic representation as we know it today. ... Fawcett (formerly The Fawcett Society)
"Fawcett is the UK's leading campaign for equality between women and men. We trace our roots back to 1866, when Millicent Garrett Fawcett began her lifetime's work leading the peaceful campaign for women's votes."
Fawcett declared October 30th as Women's No Pay Day because the pay gap is the equivalent of men being paid all year and women working for free from October 30th.

Amsterdam-based information centre and archive. Website gives access to the 'Mapping the world of women's information centres' database, which gives details of women's centres and libraries across the world.

Virtual Mitchell Collection
'Glasgow's Mitchell Library is one of the largest public reference libraries in Europe. It also houses the City Archives. As part of an ongoing project to make its resources more accessible, a selection of photographs and other images of the city has been digitised.'
Scottish Poetry Library
'The Scottish Poetry Library is the place for poetry in Scotland, for the regular reader, the serious student or the casual browser. Since its foundation in 1984 it has amassed a remarkable collection of written works, as well as tapes and videos. The emphasis is on contemporary poetry written in Scotland, in Scots, Gaelic and English, but historic Scottish poetry and contemporary works from almost every part of the world feature too.'
Fairtrade
'The Fairtrade Foundation was established in 1992 by CAFOD, Christian Aid, New Consumer, Oxfam, Traidcraft and the World Development Movement. These founding organisations were later joined by Britain's largest women's organisation, the Women's Institute. The Foundation is the UK member of Fairtrade Labelling Organisations International (FLO), which unites 20 national initiatives across Europe, Japan, North America, Mexico and Australia/New Zealand.'

Scottish Women's Convention
'The Convention provides opportunities for women to engage in focused debate about specific issues of concern and to influence policy decisions in Scotland. It is a new and exciting initiative which aims to reflect the diversity of women in Scotland and to ensure that their voices get heard in the policy making process.'

Centrum Praw Kobiet (Women's Rights Centre, Poland)
'The Women's Rights Center was founded in December 1994. The Center was created to ensure that a gender perspective is present during the law-making process and in the application of law, and that women and men are equal before the law. The Women's Rights Center is a diligent advocate for equal status and opportunities for women and men in public life and within the family.'
Gallery of Modern Art/Rule of Thumb
The successful GOMA programme Rule of Thumb involved GWL learners in a range of activities including video and art workshops, talks and outreach. GWL learners were recipients of the 'Engage' award as part of the GOMA, Rule of Thumb group exhibition elbowroom.

Pilton Video
'Pilton Video began in 1982 working with community groups in the local area to make powerful hard hitting programmes. Since 1995, Pilton Video has been a City-Wide Media Project funded through the Arts and Learning Unit of the City of Edinburgh Council.'
The Library worked with Pilton Video in 2006 on an exciting project working with a culturally diverse group of young women exploring the history and current meaning of feminism. The 'F' word project culminated in a two short films, recently screened at the GFT.
