Making & Doing Women's History

Women Make History is a new women's history group at Glasgow Women's Library that aims to gather and share information on pioneering women in Glasgow. We are aiming to launch a women's history walking tour of Glasgow in 2007.

An open programme of talks, events and workshops

As part of the group's activities we are hosting an exciting new open programme of talks, events and workshops led by women with skills and experience of doing women's history. These events are aimed at women who are 'beginners', or who want to learn more about research in a friendly, informal group learning environment.

Hidden Histories, Black Histories

Pauline Brown leads a Making and Doing Women's History session.

Pauline Brown is one of pioneering people exploring Black History in Scotland. Some will have seen and heard her leading the innovative and inspiring Glasgow Black History tours during Black History Month for Glasgow Anti Racist Alliance. In this informal discussion session Pauline will share her knowledge of slave history in the City and how 'hidden histories' can be brought to life through guided tours.

A must for all involved in developing the Women's Heritage walking tour and all who are interested in finding more about the lost histories of cities.

This Women Make History special acknowledges the 200 year anniversary of the abolition of slavery.

Thursday 24th May, 6.30pm

All women are welcome. No experience is necessary.
These events are free but donations are welcome.
