The Women Make History group aims to establish a group based at Glasgow Women's Library that will explore and make accessible aspects of Glasgow women's history. The group has worked on creating and sustaining a women's history walking tour in Glasgow.
WMH encourages the involvement of, and skills sharing between a diverse range of women who have and have not had prior experience in the field of women's history.
No experience is necessary - the group is open to all women and there are many ways to get involved. Please contact the Library to find out more.
Women Make History are planning a range of activities to take place through the rest of 2008 and into 2009. These include:
Create and enjoy short, informal lunchtime walks from Glasgow Women's Library in Trongate for women of all ages, and abilities.
Work is underway to create a new women's heritage walk in the Merchant City. Please let us know if you would like to join the team.
If you would like to help us fill in the gaps about women's history in the West End or the East End we need all hands on deck!
Developing a training dvd (and handbook) for future women's heritage tour guides. We need help in all aspects of its production from women who need to have no prior experience but are interested to help in filming, storyboarding, planning, and starring in this dvd!
There is a demand for publications that work alongside our marvellous women's history tours. Let us know if you would like to get involved in bringing this together.
Pairing up and running or assisting on walks in the West End and other areas.
If you are interested in getting involved in any of the above areas, or would like some more information, please contact Laura or Adele at the Library.
If you are already a member of any of the Women Make History teams, you can log onto the Women Make History website at history.womenslibrary.org.uk. If you've forgotten your password or aren't sure if you've been signed up to the site, please contact us.
